What Coincheur guarantees
- Free: every feature is open, Expert level, coach and game analysis included. None is reserved for a paid version.
- No tokens, no stakes, no in-game purchases: you play for the game's points, never for money or a virtual currency. Nothing runs out, and no AI level has to be unlocked.
- No account: no email, no password. A nickname is enough to play online.
- Your consent before any cookie-based measurement: Google Analytics and Ahrefs only load after you tap “Accept” in the banner, and declining changes nothing in the game.
Each point is detailed in the questions below, and the spirit of the project on the about Coincheur page.
Playing: against the AI, with friends or at a public table
| Mode | Who with | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Against the AI | you and an AI partner against two AIs | 4 levels, from Easy to Expert, and the on-demand coach |
| Private room | up to 4 players, invited with a link or a 6-character code | an Easy or Medium AI takes the empty seats |
| Public table | other players, seated at random | games count towards the Elo ranking |
For belote with a turned-up card, there is also a Classic belote mode, via the link of the same name at the bottom of the home screen. Rooms are detailed in play coinche with friends online, tables in public tables and Elo ranking.
Improving: coach, school and challenges
- The coach: against the AI, the “💡 Hint” button suggests a bid or a card and explains why. At the end of the game, it shows you your best decision and your costliest one.
- The school: ten lessons in steps, from the basics to coinche and capot, each followed by a quiz worth up to 3 stars that unlocks the next one, then a final game with the coach.
- Drills for bidding and card play, created on demand, and My games, which reviews your decisions move by move.
- The daily challenge, the same for everyone, and the challenge between friends, which has a friend replay exactly the same deals as you.

Your rules, your language, your screen
In the ⚙️ menu at the table, Game tab, you set a game to 1000, 1500 or 2000 points, No Trump and All Trump (off at first), belote in All Trump, the rule on playing a trump when you can't overruff, the coinche, the surcoinche, capot at 250, the générale at 500, the coinched deal that ends the game and, in solo games, cut-only dealing with no shuffling, like at the café. The Scoring tab adds rounding scores to the nearest ten, making a contract even if the defence scores more, and the role of the belote in making or setting a contract. The direction of play is set in the Interface tab.
Coincheur speaks English and French: it follows your browser's language, and you can switch in the Interface tab. It can also be added to the home screen of your phone or computer, like an app, without any store: the steps are in play coinche on mobile.
Your data, and how to write to us
Your progress, settings and games stay in your browser, on the device you play on. They are only sent for online play (nickname, game actions, ranking) or if you send feedback. The “Erase all my data” button in the ⚙️ menu erases what is on the device and your line in the ranking.
Audience-measurement cookies wait for your consent. An anonymous audience measurement, with no cookie and no identifier, counts the pages and screens viewed: you can switch it off in the Interface tab of the settings, and nothing is sent if your browser asks not to be tracked. Everything is described in the privacy policy.
To write to us: contact@coincheur.fr. For an idea or a bug, the “Feedback” button at the bottom of the home screen sends an anonymous message.

FAQ
Is Coincheur free?
Yes. Every feature is free: the four AI levels, the coach, the school, the drills, the daily challenge, private rooms and public tables. There are no tokens, no stakes and no in-game purchases.
Do I need an account to play?
No. You play without an email or password, and your progress is saved in your browser. To play online, a nickname is enough. Sync between devices is not available yet.
What are the AI levels?
There are four: Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert. The Expert simulates the rest of the deal before it plays, with three strengths to choose from (Fast, Normal, Strong), and the style goes from Very cautious to Very aggressive. Online, empty seats are taken by an Easy or Medium AI.
How does the on-demand coach work?
When you play against the AI, tap “💡 Hint” on your turn, during the bidding or the card play: the coach suggests a move and explains why. These are pointers, not truths, as several moves are often defensible. It is switched off in rooms and at public tables: online, everyone plays unaided.
How do I play with friends via a link?
Open “Play with friends”, pick a nickname and create a room: you get a link and a 6-character code to share. A room holds up to four players, and the AI takes the empty seats. With two of you, your friend sits opposite you and you play together against two AIs.
How do public tables and the Elo ranking work?
Pick a nickname then “Find a table”: the game starts as soon as four players are waiting, or after 20 seconds with AIs in the free seats. Everyone starts at 1200, and each win moves you up, more so when the other team is strong.
What is the daily challenge?
Each day, one coinche situation, the same for everyone: a bid, an opening lead or a move during the deal. You get a single attempt, a score of up to 3 stars, and a streak that grows every day you play.
What does the daily challenge share grid show?
The challenge number, your score as boxes (for example 2/3 ✅✅⬜) and your streak. Never the card or the bid: your friends can try the challenge without knowing the answer.
How does the coinche school work?
Ten lessons in steps, from the basics to coinche and capot. Each lesson ends with a quiz: 3 stars with no mistake, 2 with one, 1 beyond that. Finishing a lesson unlocks the next, and the path ends with a game against the Easy AI with the coach.
What is the challenge between friends on the same deals?
At the end of a game against the AI, “🤝 Challenge a friend” creates a link. Your friend replays exactly the same deals, with your rules and the same AI level, then you compare: the win first, then the points margin. The whole challenge fits in the link. One exception: a game played with “Cut deck, no shuffling” can't be sent as a challenge.
Can I play classic belote?
Yes. The “Classic belote” link at the bottom of the home screen opens belote with a turned-up card: one card is turned face up and you take or pass, with an AI partner against two AIs, at four levels.
Can I play with my own rules?
Yes. The ⚙️ menu at the table sets the target score (1000, 1500 or 2000 points), No Trump, All Trump, the surcoinche, capot, the générale, the rule on playing a trump when you can't overruff, the direction of play and several scoring options. A room with friends uses its host's rules, except cut-only dealing, which is for solo games.
Is Coincheur available in English?
Yes, in English and French. The app follows your browser's language, and you can switch in the ⚙️ menu, Interface tab. The site's guides also exist in both languages.
How do I install Coincheur on my home screen?
On iPhone, in Safari: Share, then “Add to Home Screen”. In Chrome or Edge, on Android or a computer: the “Install” button when it is offered. When your browser allows it, the ⚙️ menu and the app's About screen also offer “Add to home screen”. No store is needed.
What does Coincheur do with my data, and when does it ask for consent?
Your game stays in your browser. The banner asks for your consent before any audience-measurement cookie (Google Analytics, Ahrefs), and declining changes nothing in the game. An anonymous measurement with no cookie counts the pages viewed; you can switch it off in the settings.
How do I contact Coincheur?
By email at contact@coincheur.fr, in particular for a question about your data. To report a bug or suggest an idea, the “Feedback” button on the home screen sends an anonymous message: it is read, but no reply is possible.
