Three ways to play

Train like a chess player

The coach gives its view on your bids and your cards, without dogma: several moves can be good. You also get bidding and card play exercises, a daily challenge and an analysis of your games to see where you lost points.

The rules in a nutshell

Coinche is played by 4 players in two teams of two, with a 32-card deck. Play traditionally goes counter-clockwise: the player to the dealer's right bids and leads first (the other direction is a setting). Each deal is worth 162 points: 152 card points plus 10 for the last trick. Bids go from 80 to 160 in steps of 10, then capot (a 250 contract, every trick). In trumps the jack is worth 20 and the nine 14; the belote (king and queen of trumps) scores 20 points. The declaring team must make at least its contract and more than the defence, otherwise it goes down and the defence scores 162 plus the contract. An opponent can coinche to double the contract's value, and the declarer can surcoinche to quadruple it.

FAQ

Is Coincheur really free?

Yes. You play for free and without limits, with no signup and nothing to download, right in your browser on desktop or mobile (iPhone and Android).

Coinche, belote coinchée, belote contrée: what is the difference?

They are regional names for the same game: a four-player belote in two teams, where you bid a numbered contract that the opponents can coinche (double) to raise the stakes.

How do I play coinche with friends?

Create a private room and share the link: your friends join without creating an account. The AI takes any empty seat, so you can play with just one or two friends.

How can I get better at coinche?

Turn on the coach during your games, work through the bidding and card play exercises, take on the daily challenge and review the analysis of your games to spot your mistakes.
