Memorise the rules of coinche
You roughly know the rules but trip on the details? Here's a cheat sheet to lock in the essentials and play without hesitating.
How a deal unfolds
- Dealing: 8 cards per player (often 3 + 2 + 3).
- Bidding: each player announces a contract (points + trump suit) or passes.
- Play: follow the led suit, ruff or overtrump as the rules require.
- Scoring: add up the tricks and check whether the contract is made.
The numbers to remember
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Full deal | 162 (152 + 10 last trick) |
| Belote (king + queen of trump) | 20 |
| Bid capot | 250 |
| Coinche / surcoinche | x2 / x4 |
For card values by contract, keep the values table beside you.
The best way to memorise
Reading the rules helps, but they stick by playing. Play a few deals against the AI: you see the flow in action, the automatic scoring shows you the values, and the rules become reflexes. Play a deal on Coincheur with this sheet in mind.
A memory trick: tie each number to a strong image. 162 is “the full deal.” The 20 of belote is “the king-queen couple.” The 250 of a capot is “all or nothing.” These anchors stick far better than a dry list, and come back on their own when it's time to score.
